Police: One Killed, One Wounded In East Garfield Park Shooting

(STMW) -- One man was killed and another was wounded in a shooting early Saturday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

The men, ages 34 and 28, were parked in a vehicle in the 2900 block of West Lexington about 4:10 a.m. when a black vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired at them, police said.The 34-year-old was shot in the chest and shoulder and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death Saturday morning.

The 28-year-old was shot in the neck, chest and shoulder and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

A police source said the 34-year-old was a documented gang member.
