One Killed, One Critically Wounded In West Side Shooting

CHICAGO (STMW) --A woman was killed and a man critically wounded in a West Side shooting Tuesday afternoon.

The two were shot about 4:30 p.m. in the 1500 block of South Central Park Avenue, police said.

The 20-year-old woman was shot in the back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where she died minutes later, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. A man, 34, was shot in the right hip and also taken to Mount Sinai where he was listed in critical condition, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death, but did not release the woman's name pending notification of family.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
