Police: One Dead, Three Others Wounded In West Garfield Park Shooting

(STMW) -- A man died and three others were wounded in a shooting early Saturday in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

About 1:10 a.m., the group was at a party in the 4400 block of West Madison, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said. One of the people shot got into an argument with a man who later pulled out a handgun and opened fire, striking four people, Alfaro said.

A 22-year-old man was shot in the face and was pronounced dead at the scene, Alfaro said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death.

A 20-year-old woman was also in critical condition at Stroger Hospital after she suffered multiple gunshot wounds, Alfaro added.

A second woman, 20, was shot in the buttocks and was also taken to Stroger hospital where he condition had stabilized. The fourth person -- an 18-year-old man -- was shot in the lower back and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where his condition had stabilized, Alfaro said.
