Police Officer Injured Breaking Up Fight In Elgin

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Three people were arrested after a fight left an Elgin police officer injured Monday morning in the northwestern suburb.

About 7:50 a.m., officers responding to the 1500 block of Larkin Avenue attempted to separate several individuals who were fighting, according to a statement from the Elgin Police Department.

During the incident, an officer was injured and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Dennis Napier, 23, of the 600 block of Scott Drive in Elgin, was charged with mob action, a Class 4 felony, police said. A 15-year-old boy was charged with aggravated resisting arrest and a 16-year-old boy was also charged with mob action.

Police said Napier suffered a laceration to his head during the fight and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The teenagers were transported to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center and Napier was scheduled for a bond hearing Tuesday.
