Police: Man Tried To Sexually Assault Teen Walking To School

(STMW) -- Police are searching for a man who tried to sexually assault a 14-year-old girl as she was walking to school Wednesday morning in the South Side Grand Boulevard neighborhood.

The girl was walking in the west alley of the 4700 block of South Evans about 7:20 a.m. when the man pushed her to the ground and tried to remove her pants, Area Central detectives said in a community alert.

When he was unable to remove her pants, he ran away, the alert said.

He is described as black a man in his 30s with a medium build, medium complexion and short haircut. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and khaki cargo pants, the alert said.
