Police: Man Tried To Lure Glenview Girl Into Car

(STMW) -- Police are looking for an elderly man who tried to lure a 12-year-old girl into his car Monday morning in north suburban Glenview.

Between 7:40 and 7:49 a.m., the driver of a small gray car called out to the girl as she walked to her school bus stop near Windsor and Golfview roads, according to a statement from Glenview police.

The man asked, "Hey come in here, have you ever tried chocolate chip cookies?" The girl kept walking and the man pulled into a driveway, blocking her path of travel across the sidewalk, police said.

He rolled down his window and said, "You want to play this game," according to the statement.

The girl turned and walked away as the school bus arrived and she got onboard, police said. The driver headed eastbound on Golfview toward Wagner Road.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 70s or 80s, mostly bald with some white hair and a white mustache. He was driving a small gray car with black trim — possibly duct tape — around the headlights and driver's door handle.

Anyone who sees a suspect or vehicle matching the description is asked to call 911.
