Police: Man Tried To Lure Girl Into Vehicle In Portage Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are cautioning residents of the Northwest Side Portage Park neighborhood after a man tried to lure a girl into a vehicle last week.

About 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, a girl was near the intersection of Henderson and Cicero when she was approached by a man driving a black-colored car, according to an alert issued by Chicago Police. The man tried to talk to the girl -- with the intention of luring her into the car -- but she ignored the man and fled to safety.

He was described as a white man between 40 and 45 years old. He had a light brown beard and a mustache with a medium complexion. He was wearing a navy blue baseball cap and had a teardrop tattoo under his right eye and a Maniac Latin Disciples pitchfork tattoo on the right side of his neck, police said.

He was driving a black sedan, possibly a 2000-2004 Nissan with white scratches on the passenger-side door, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
