Police: Man Tried To Lure Boy Into Van On North Side

(STMW) -- Police are looking for a man who attempted to lure a boy into a van last week in the Lincoln Square neighborhood on the North Side.

About 8:40 a.m. Wednesday, the 12-year-old boy was walking to school in the 2100 block of West Farragut Avenue, when the driver of a white cargo van parked on the street asked the boy to come into his vehicle, according to a community alert from Chicago Police.

The boy ran away from the cargo van, police said.

The man driving the van is described as white, middle aged, with short black or brown hair and a beard, police said. The van has scratches on the driver's side rear panel.

Anyone with information on the attempted child luring should contact Area North detectives at (312) 744-8200.
