Police: Man Tried To Kidnap 13-Year-Old Girl In West Garfield Park

(STMW) -- Chicago Police are searching for a man who tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl last week in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

About 8:20 a.m. Nov. 6, the girl was walking in the 4000 block of West Adams when a black or blue car pulled up, according to a community alert issued Wednesday by Harrison District police.

A black man in his late 30s got out, walked up to her and grabbed her left arm, police said. She was able to free herself and run away.

The man, about 5-foot-10 with a full beard, was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He took off in the car, which is thought to be a later model with brown damage marks on the driver side door, police said.

Anyone with information should call Area North detectives at (312) 744-8261.
