Police: Man Struck By Car, Stabbed, Robbed On Near West Side

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was struck by a car, robbed of his cell phone and stabbed during an attack Tuesday morning on the Near West Side.

The 39-year-old was crossing the street in the 1800 block of West Van Buren Street about 9:50 a.m. when he was struck by a black vehicle, causing him to drop his cell phone, police News Affairs Officer Ron Gaines said.

A male got out of the vehicle and took the cell phone, then stabbed the victim in the elbow, Gaines said. He then got back in the car and drove off.

The man suffered a minor puncture wound, but police could not immediately say if he was hospitalized.

No one was in custody as of Thursday morning.
