Police: Man Stabbed Nephew, Grabbed Officer's Genitals While Handcuffed
(STMW) -- A south suburban man who stabbed a child in the chest was arrested and charged after he was found holding a knife while clutching another child by the hair, then resisted arrest after the child was taken away, police said.
About 4:10 p.m. on July 6, Cook County sheriff's officers found Romanus Ubamadu holding a knife in one hand and his 3-year-old nephew by the hair in the other in the 1000 block of Lexington Circle in Ford Heights, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.
Ubamadu, 24, refused officer's orders to release the boy, but his sister was able to take the child from him, police said.
Authorities learned Ubamadu had previously stabbed another nephew, age 11, in the chest, police said. That boy was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries and later released.
On July 7, he was charged with aggravated battery to a child, aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery to a police officer, police said. His bond was set at $100,000.
The latter charge came after he grabbed a sheriff's officer's genitals while he was handcuffed, police said. He later kicked the same officer in the hand.
