Police: Man Shot To Death On Lake Shore Drive On North Side

(STMW) -- A man was shot to death early Sunday while sitting in the back seat of a vehicle on Lake Shore Drive on the North Side, police said.

Officers responded at 5:08 a.m. to a report that a car had crashed into a pole in the northbound lanes of Lake Shore Drive near Foster Avenue, according to Chicago Police.

The officers then discovered a 35-year-old man sitting in the back seat of the vehicle had been shot in the lower back, police said. He and two other people had been driving northbound in the 4400 block of North Lake Shore Drive when another vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside opened fire.

The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. No one else was injured in the shooting.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
