Man Shot To Death In Austin

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police were questioning a person of interest early Monday after a man was shot to death in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Rashad Stokes, 29, was standing on the sidewalk in the 4800 block of West Madison Street about 1:30 a.m. when a male walked up and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

Stokes, of the 5200 block of West Congress Parkway, suffered at least one gunshot wound to the body and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Police said one person of interest was being questioned in connection with the homicide early Monday.
