Police: Man Shot And Killed In West Englewood

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was shot to death early Wednesday in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

Officers responding to a call of a person shot about 1:45 a.m. in the 7100 block of South Winchester Avenue found the 19-year-old in the street with gunshot wounds to the head and back, police said. He might have been riding a bicycle at the time of the shooting.A police source said the man was a documented gang member.

He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was later pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death early Wednesday.
