Police: Man Killed When ATV Crashes Into Far South Side Pole

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 40-year-old man was killed when the all-terrain vehicle he was riding slammed into a Washington Heights neighborhood light pole late Friday on the Far South Side.

The crash happened about 11:25 p.m. in the 10500 block of South Green, police said.

Orenthal Clark was taken to Roseland Community Hospital, where he died at 11:40 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. The crash happened near his home.

An autopsy Saturday found that Clark died from multiple blunt force injuries as a result of an all-terrain vehicle colliding with a fixed object, the medical examiner's office said. His death was ruled an accident.

CPD's Major Accident Investigations Unit is handling the case.
