Police: Man Killed, Teenage Boy Seriously Hurt In Austin Shooting

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was killed and a 13-year-old boy was seriously wounded in a shooting Saturday morning in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.

The boy and the 18-year-old man were walking about 11:15 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Latrobe when someone fired at them, according to Chicago Police.

The man was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the death, but did not release the man's name Saturday.

The boy was shot in the face and taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, according to police.
