(STMW) -- A man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

The 22-year-old man was in a vehicle about 2:10 p.m. heading north in the 700 block of North Hamlin when a car pulled alongside him and someone inside opened fire, striking the man in the back, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala say.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Zala said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death.
