EVANSTON, Ill. (STMW) -- A man was killed Saturday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed in north suburban Evanston, police said.

The man, whose age was not immediately known, was driving a motorcycle northbound in the 300 block of Sheridan Road about 7:40 a.m. when he lost control and crashed, Evanston Police Cmdr. Jay Parrott said.

Parrott said the man was driving the motorcycle at a high rate of speed and was not wearing a helmet. No one else was injured in the crash.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality Saturday morning.
