Police: Man Killed, Another Hurt In West Englewood Shooting

(STMW) -- One man was killed and another was hurt in a shooting early Sunday in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The men were in a van at a stoplight in the 1400 block of West 71st Street about 3:20 a.m. when a tan SUV pulled up behind them and shots were fired, police said.

A 22-year-old man was shot multiple times in the back and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was later pronounced, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's could not immediately confirm the fatality.

A 24-year-old was shot in the arm and face and taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition stabilized, police said.
