Police: Man Found Shot Dead In Little Village

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was found shot to death in the Little Village neighborhood early Saturday, police said.

The 34-year-old was found shot to death in the 4100 block of West 28th Street at 3:24 a.m., police said.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office could not immediately confirm the death.

More than a dozen people gathered on the northeast and southeast corners of 28th and Kedvale as police investigated.

The man's uncovered body could be seen lying face up on the sidewalk on the southwest corner, adjacent to a boarded up single-story building tagged with gang graffiti.

As police investigated, several people who said they were family told officers that they knew the man, saying the man's hat, "the one he wears every day," was laying next to his body.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
