Police: Man Fatally Shot In North Lawndale

(STMW) -- A man was fatally shot Sunday afternoon in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the West Side, according to police.

The 28-year-old was walking in the 4100 block of West 16th when a gray minivan pulled up, and someone inside started shooting, police said.

The man was shot in the chest and taken in critical condition to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was later pronounced, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner's office could not confirm the fatality at 5 p.m.

Police said the shooting may be gang-related since the victim is a documented gang member.
