Police: Man Dies After North Side Crash

(STMW) -- A 63-year-old man died late Saturday after his vehicle crashed and rolled onto its side in the North Center neighborhood, police said.

About 9:45 p.m., he was driving a Toyota Scion eastbound in the 1900 block of West Irving Park Road when his car rear-ended a Hyundai Elantra in traffic, according to Chicago Police.

The Scion then flipped onto its side and struck a tree, police said.

The man was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality early Sunday.

No one else was injured in the crash and no charges or citations have been filed, police said.

The police Major Accidents Investigation Unit is investigating.
