(STMW) -- A north suburban man has been charged with breaking into five vehicles parked at Old Orchard Mall in Skokie since early November.

About 4 p.m. Dec. 7, police were called for the burglaries in the parking garage of the mall at Old Orchard Road and Skokie Boulevard, according to Skokie police.

Officers tracked down 23-year-old Christian Garcia-Palomo in connection with an unrelated incident at the mall, and he had some of the stolen property on him, police said.

Detectives connected him to at least four other vehicle burglaries since Nov. 2, police said.

Garcia-Palomo, of the 5200 block of Lee Street in Skokie, faces three felony counts of burglary, one of attempted burglary and a misdemeanor count of possessing stolen property, police said.

A judge ordered him held on a $150,000 bond and he has since been released on electronic monitoring, according to the Cook County sheriff's office. He is due back in court Dec. 29.
