Person Shot And Killed, Another Injured Near Howard CTA Red Line Station In Evanston

CHICAGO (CBS)-- Police are investigating a fatal shooting under a CTA Red Line station in Evanston.

Evanston Police Cmdr. Ryan Glew confirmed the victim's body was found early Thursday under the station at Howard and Paulina.

According to police, officers located the victim laying on the ground near the station around 1:15 a.m. Police said the male victim was approximately 20 years old.

Chicago Police located a second victim, a 21-year-old man, in the area who suffered a graze wound to the head. Police said the second victim was an Evanston resident. He was treated at St. Francis Hospital and was released.

"The initial investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that started on the street near Marshfield Avenue and Howard Street," Police said in a written statement. "Detectives are working to identify the victim and notify his family."
