Two Killed In Crash Outside Chicago Executive Airport; Stretch Of Wolf Road Closed

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two people were killed Wednesday morning in a car crash near Chicago Executive Airport in north suburban Wheeling.

Police said two vehicles collided around 7:35 a.m. at the intersection of Wolf Road and Messner Drive.

Both vehicles ended up crashing through an airport fence. An SUV ended up on its roof, and a box truck ended up on its side.

Two victims were found unresponsive at the scene, and were being taken to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office to be officially pronounced dead. Their names have not yet been released.

Police said Wolf Road was closed in both directions between Palatine Road and Hintz Road as the cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team (STAR) of the Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT), and crash investigators from several northwest suburban law enforcement agencies are assisting Wheeling Police with the investigation.
