Police Investigating Death Of 7-Month-Old Girl In Barrington

BARRINGTON, Ill. (STMW) -- Police in northwest suburban Barrington announced Wednesday that they are conducting a death investigation.

The department is working with the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team in the investigation, Barrington police said in a release. Officials said more information would become available "as the investigation proceeds."

Meanwhile, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death of Mya Edwards, a 7-month-old girl, on Wednesday. Edwards, of the 110 block of South Hager Avenue in Barrington, was pronounced on scene at 12:19 p.m., the medical examiner's office said.

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday as Barrington police investigate.
