Authorities Investigating Another Incident Of Racial Slurs Heard Over CPD Radio Frequency

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Once again, someone has uttered a racial slur on a Chicago Police radio frequency. An investigation is underway.

A police 911 dispatcher was taking information about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday about a man firing a gun when someone broke in and said, "Shoot the --- ------ ------ and get it over with."

An Office of Emergency Management and Communications spokesperson said OEMC and police do not believe the slur came from a Chicago Police officer, said the comments are "absolutely unacceptable."

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has asked county and federal prosecutors to launch a hate crime investigation.

Interim Police Supt. Eddie Johnson said, following confirmation hearings at City Hall, that he found the slurs "offensive" and "totally unacceptable."
