Police Investigate Threat At South Side Charter School

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago police were investigating a threat at a charter school on the South Side, after a Facebook post claiming "another Sandy Hook killing."

Police confirmed Area South detectives were investigating the threat made Sunday against Hansberry College Prep, a school run by the Noble Network of Charter Schools.

Sunday evening, a person posted an expletive-filled threat on Facebook, claiming they had been bullied, and "HANSBERRY IS GONE BE ANOTHER SANDYHOOK KILLING."

Noble spokesman Cody Rogers said police were notified of the threat, but do not think it is credible.

"Classes are in session today and the school is safe," he said.

Rogers said extra security was in place Monday morning. He said Chicago Police and the Chicago Public Schools were providing "additional support" for the school this week.
