Police Investigate After Man Found Dead In Geneva Home

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A death investigation was underway in west suburban Geneva, after a man was found dead inside a home Thursday night.

Geneva police received a call for a well-being check at a home at 39 Crissey Avenue around 6:15 p.m. Thursday from someone outside the home.

When officers arrived, they found 53-year-old Eduardo Gutierrez dead inside the home. Gutierrez's wife also was home at the time, and was given medical attention, and taken to a hospital for evaluation. Her condition is unknown.

The area was closed to traffic, and officers executed a search warrant at the home. The Kane County Major Crimes Task Force was called in to assist.

Police would not say what they were searching for, but stressed there is no danger to the public. They said the cause of the man's death will be determined at a later time by the Kane County Coroner's office.

Investigators could not immediately say if they've had previous contact with the residents in the home before Thursday night.
