Police: I-290 Closed Near Broadview Because Of Flooding

BROADVIEW, Ill. (STMW) -- The Eisenhower Expressway (I-290) is closed in both directions near west suburban Broadview because of flooding, police said Tuesday night.

Lanes in both directions were closed at 25th Avenue about 7:15 p.m., according to Illinois State Police. At least one car was stranded in water.

Cleanup crews were en route just after 8 p.m. and police expected the expressway to reopen shortly after.

Most of Cook County remained under a flood advisory as of 8 p.m. Tuesday night as fast-moving storms -- producing 50 mph winds, torrential rain, flooding and lightning -- passed through the area, according to the National Weather Service.
