(STMW) -- A 45-year-old man was killed in a single-car crash early Saturday in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

He was driving in the 400 block of West 47th Street about 1:50 a.m. when he lost control of his car and hit a viaduct, police News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

He was taken to Stroger Hospital where he later died, Sedevic said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
