Police: Cop Impersonator Robbed Woman After Stopping Her Car

(CBS) -- Streamwood Police say a police impersonator robbed a woman last week - after he stopped her car on a side street near Schaumburg Road and Route 59.

It was late in the afternoon last Thursday when Streamwood Police say a woman told them she was pulled over by what looked like an unmarked police car: dark-colored - with a red and blue light bar on the dashboard.

Police say the man was wearing what could have passed for a police uniform, except no official patches or anything.

But he was wearing dark pants and a dark shirt.

And ordered the woman out of her car - then grabbed her purse and took some cash.

Streamwood Police say the man did not show a weapon.

Police say that besides robbery and impersonating police, there could be other charges filed against this man - who is still on the loose.

Police wouldn't say what those other charges might be.

A deputy chief says the woman did not see the car's license plate. He says investigators are checking to see if there are security cameras in the area.
