Police Claim Man Threatened To Shoot Cop In Facebook Rap Video

(STMW) -- A northwest suburban man is charged with a felony after saying in a rap video posted on Facebook that he would shoot a police officer, authorities said Tuesday.

Gerard Xavier Golston, 24, is charged with one count of threatening a public official, a class 3 felony, Crystal Lake police said in a statement.

The video, posted to Facebook on Jan. 6, shows Golston rapping, the statement said.

Police claim some lyrics identify a Crystal Lake police officer by name and mention Golston's "intent to shoot the officer."

Other postings and an investigation by authorities indicate Golston may have access to a firearm and threatened violence toward others, the statement said.

The McHenry County state's attorney's office issued a warrant for his arrest Friday, and Golston turned himself in Sunday, police said. Golston's last known address is in Lake of the Hills.

He is being held at the McHenry County Jail on a $35,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning, police said.
