Man In Custody After Police Chase Starting In Western Suburbs Ends In Indiana

(CBS) – A Wisconsin man who allegedly fired a gun inside a drug store in Broadview Friday night led police on a chase through two states, causing major traffic tie-ups before it was over, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.

Just before 8 p.m. Indiana State Police were notified there was a pursuit of a white Ford Expedition from southbound I-294 to eastbound I-80 heading into Indiana.

The driver had fired shots inside a Walgreens in Broadview, according to police. The chase continued on to eastbound I-94 with police slowing traffic from behind. Two times they used stop sticks to try and flatten the Expedition's tires with no luck.

The Expedition stopped near the Michigan City exit. All traffic eastbound and westbound was stopped as well.

State police say the man identified as Vincent Tolliver of Madison, Wis. eventually got out of the SUV and held a handgun to his head standing in the middle of I-94.

For more than an hour, there was a standoff that finally ended when police fired non-lethal rounds and took Tolliver into custody.
