Police Chase Of Murder Suspect Ends In Crash Leaving Six Injured

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Several people were injured Tuesday, including a 4-year-old boy, after a murder suspect crashed his car into other vehicles during a South Side police chase, according to police.

The police chase began at 11:30 a.m. in Englewood, at 66th and Wolcott.

It ended 3 miles south at 87th and Ashland. Police said that is where a murder suspect crashed his car into other vehicles. WBBM's Steve Miller reports.

CBS 2 received video from the chase. A silver Mitsubishi Galant with Iowa plates is the vehicle the suspect was driving in. CBS 2's Sandra Torres reports.

"It was just a dangerous situation," said Maurice Roy, witness to the scene. "They were pulling people out of cars. A kid in one of the cars, but police pulled the kid out and he was okay. Its good they caught the person, because its dangerous. That could've been my mom or anybody at the intersection."

Three people were taken in Christ Medical Center, including one adult in serious-to-critical condition, one 4-year-old child in fair-to-serious condition, and one adult in fair-to-serious condition. Another adult was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition.

Police said the murder suspect is in custody. The man was taken to Christ Hospital where he was in stable condition.

It is unclear what the suspect is wanted for but the FBI confirms, they were involved in the chase and that the suspect is in custody.

Two other people involved in the accident refused treatment, according to police.
