Police Bust Alleged Dog Fighting Ring In Maywood

(CBS) -- Animal control officers descended on a home in Maywood and police removed what they say was a well-organized dog fighting ring.

CBS 2's Jim Williams reports Cook County Sheriff's police and the Chicago Police Department's Animal Crimes Unit were seen removing dogs, chains, a bag and what appears to be a ring.

Sources tell CBS 2 investigators say they were looking for evidence of dogfighting. We asked a man who lives nearby if he noticed anything suspicious about his neighbor.

"The nicest guy ever ... I've seen him every now and again. He says 'hey' to me, sees if I'm okay and that's all," said Ansein Okojie.

Okojie says he saw no evidence of dog fighting at the home.

Maywood police were not involved in this case. Chicago police tell CBS 2 they took one man into custody and charges are pending.
