Police: Boy, 16, Shot And Killed In Bronzeville

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A homicide investigation is underway after a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed Sunday morning in the South Side Bronzeville neighborhood.

About 5:50 a.m. police received a call of a person shot in the 500 block of East 38th Place, News Affairs Officer Janel Sedevic said.

The teenage boy was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:32 a.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The boy's identity was withheld Sunday afternoon pending notification of family members, the medical examiner's office said.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.
