Police Arrest 7 In Illinois After Alleged St. Louis Theft

FARMERSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — Authorities say seven people have been arrested in central Illinois after an alleged theft at a St. Louis mall and an interstate car chase.

Police say two vehicles were allegedly involved in a theft on Saturday morning at the Plaza Frontenac in St. Louis.

Frontenac Police Chief Tom Becker says the alleged thieves smashed glass display cases at Saks Fifth Avenue to steal purses and then fled.

One vehicle headed north on Interstate 55, leading to a police chase. The vehicle stopped just south of Farmersville in Illinois. All seven people who attempted to flee on foot were captured.

Authorities didn't have a description of the second vehicle or other suspects at large.
