Man Killed, 1 Injured In West Garfield Park Shooting

(STMW) -- One man was killed and another was injured Friday night in a West Garfield Park neighborhood shooting.

The men were standing on a sidewalk about 10:40 p.m. in the 0-100 block of South Kostner when they heard gunshots and felt pain, police said.

Michael Harrison, 35, was shot in the abdomen and taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:29 a.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner's office said.

An autopsy performed Saturday found Harrison died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner's office said.

The other man, 31, took himself to Rush University Medical Center with gunshot wounds to the left calf and right ankle. His condition had stabilized, police said.
