Plow Drivers Gear Up To Deal With Snow

(CBS) -- Many of us complain about it, but plow drivers love this weather.

CBS 2's Roseanne Tellez reports there was a scramble at a salt and equipment supplier in Schiller Park and it was chaos out in the parking lot.

"Absolutely plenty of guys out there making sure getting loaded up," said Brian Henning.

And ready to clear snow after a lack of it in December.

"I don't think anyone expecting that, especially after last year, so I think there is a little bit of excitement in the air today," he said.

Municipalities like Des Plaines are just breaking into salt piles that were already dwindling by this time last year.

"We right now have 16 trucks ready to roll, 3600 tons of salt ready to be put on street just waiting for snow to start falling," said Des Plaines City Manager Michael Bartholomew.

But one-man bands like Rex Morioka, remember Chiberia fondly.

"Last year was a great run," he said. "That was a banner year for a lot of us plow companies," he said.

This December was a snooze.

"I was getting kind of bored there for a little while," Morioka said.

What we dread, he's looking forward to: lots of snow.

"I'll go all night and I'll just keep going," Morioka said.
