Man Struck, Killed By Semi In Noble Square

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A truck driver was killed in a freak accident Thursday morning just off the Kennedy Expressway in the Noble Square neighborhood.

WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports the accident happened just off the Division Street exit ramp from the Kennedy.

Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford said a truck driver who had just been involved in a minor crash with a minivan was standing outside his own truck to take pictures of the damage caused by the crash, when he was run over by another truck making a turn off the ramp onto Division.

The trucker was pinned under the rear wheels of the second truck, a waste hauler. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman driving the minivan apparently was traumatized by what she saw, and was taken to a hospital for observation.
