Person Of Interest Questioned After Shooting Death In Gary

(STMW) -- A person of interest is being questioned after a male was shot to death while driving Saturday night in northwest Indiana.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired and found a 1995 maroon Cadillac crashed into the garage of a home in the 1300 block of Cleveland Street in Gary at 8:20 p.m., according to Gary Police Lt. Thomas Pawlak.

The driver was unresponsive and officers noticed bullet holes in the driver's door and window, Pawlak said.

The male, whose age was not available, had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene, Pawlak said. His name was not released Sunday morning pending notification of his family.

A person of interest was taken into custody after the shooting and was being questioned by detectives, police said.
