Person Killed In Crash In I-290 In Itasca

(STMW) -- A person was killed in a crash Sunday on I-290 in northwest suburban Itasca.

The male, whose age was unknown, was driving westbound on I-290 towards the Thorndale exit at 8:49 a.m. when his car veered off onto the left shoulder, striking a 20-foot box trailer that was parked on the side of the road for construction, according to Illinois State Police.

The male had to be extricated from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, Itasca Fire Department said.

Additional details about the crash were not immediately available.
