Two Injured In Elgin-O'Hare Crash; Driver Flees

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A motorist fled on foot after two people, including a construction worker, were injured early Thursday when a car struck a private contractor's vehicle along the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway.

Illinois State Police said a car struck a construction vehicle near Irving Park Road around 4 a.m.

A construction worker suffered non-life threatening injuries in the collision, police said. A passenger in the car was seriously hurt.

Police said the driver of the car fled the scene on foot, but investigators have identified the driver after interviewing the passenger.

As of shortly before 9 a.m., traffic was getting by the crash site using the right shoulder, as both lanes were still blocked.
