Skyway Jumper May Be Connected To Woman's Death

(CBS) -- An investigation into an apparent suicide on Chicago's Skyway tollway Monday afternoon has broadened to include a separate death.

Authorities say a driver who crashed into a wall on the bridge around 3 p.m. at 98th Street jumped into the Calumet River below.

Divers recovered the motorist's body.

Later Monday, Chicago police responded to a home in the 1000 block of East 80th St., where a homicide investigation is underway. Police say a 25-year-old woman was found unresponsive and pronounced dead.

The Illinois Secretary of State's Office says the car in the Skyway crash was registered to that East Chatham block.

Police have not confirmed a connection between the two incidents.

The crash occurred in the inbound lanes of the Skyway. Westbound traffic was slowed temporarily while the scene was cleared.
