Person In Custody After Armed Bank Robbery In Skokie

CHICAGO (CBS) -- An armed bank robbery was reported Tuesday evening in north suburban Skokie.

The robbery happened at 5:50 p.m. at a First Bank and Trust branch at 8047 Skokie Blvd., according to FBI spokesman Garrett Croon.

The suspect ran east from the bank after the robbery, according to Skokie police. A suspect was located after an immediate search of the area and led officers on a brief foot chase. He was taken into custody without incident in the 8000 block of Kenton Avenue and charges were pending.

There were no injuries reported to employees or customers at the bank, police said. Skokie police and the FBI are investigating the robbery.
