Person Fatally Shot In Calumet City

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A person died early Saturday after he was shot in south suburban Calumet City.

The male, whose age and identity were not immediately known, suffered a gunshot wound in the 200 block of South Bensley Street in Calumet City, according to a statement from the Lake County coroner's office. He was taken to Franciscan Health in Hammond, Indiana, where he was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m.

His death was ruled a homicide.

Calumet City police did not release further details about the shooting Saturday morning.
