Elderly Man Killed In Morton Grove Hit-And-Run
(CBS) – An elderly man was killed in a hit-and-run crash Monday night in north suburban Morton Grove.
It happened around 7:45 p.m., as 86-year-old Richard Mikulec was walking near the intersection of Shermer Road and Harlem Avenue.
A vehicle struck Mikulec, and the driver left the scene. Police said the vehicle likely sustained front-end damage in the crash, but a detailed description was not available.
Nearby residents came to his aid, andMikulec was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, but he later was pronounced dead.
Mikulec lived about six blocks away from where he was struck. Walkways in the area were partially blocked by the recent snow.
