Pedestrian Killed, Three People Injured In West Side Crash

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was killed and three other people injured in a crash Thursday afternoon in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

A vehicle in the 300 block of South Pulaski Road struck the pedestrian, then several parked vehicles, at about 1:20 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian, Andrew Smith, 41, of the 1900 block of South St. Louis, was take to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:57 a.m., according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The driver and a passenger in the vehicle were taken to Stroger Hospital, and a second passenger was taken to Mount Sinai, police said. Their conditions were not immediately available.

The hospitalized driver is in custody and charges were pending Thursday night, police said.
