Pedestrian Killed In Mount Prospect Hit-And-Run

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run crash Sunday night in northwest suburban Mount Prospect, police said.

About 8:15 p.m., a 46-year-old Arlington Heights man was struck by a vehicle in the eastbound lanes of Algonquin Road, east of Briarwood Drive, according to a statement from Mount Prospect police.

The man was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where was he was pronounced dead, police said. The Cook County medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.

Police said the vehicle may be dark colored with front-end damage.

The Major Case Assistance Team's Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting Mount Prospect police with the investigation.
